"DEAD MANS CONFESSION"
Author/auteur: Joshua G.H. Johnson (USA)
Three o'clock he walks into the confessional. Father, oh my God! Oh my God said Thomas Trotsky, a man of twenty three that had not seen the inside of a church since he was 10. Oh my God father I have sinned he said with a horrible fear in his voice. Whats wrong? asked father Bryan. They took everything from me, the mob took everything from me Thomas managed to say in between his bitter weeping. Calm down my son. Explain what you mean father Bryan whispered. After taking a few moments to gather his thoughts, Thomas begins to tell his story. I was always a good kid, never did anything wrong. I had never seen the inside of a principals office. Its always been that way, up until last year. I lost my job and times got rough, I ended up getting involved with this guy named Ricky. Ricky knew I needed money, and a place to stay, so he offered and I accepted. After awhile I come to find out Ricky is involved with Joey Torega, the biggest mob boss Chicagos ever seen. I get to talking to Ricky one night and he asks me what was my last job, and so I tell him I was a salesman. One thing led to another and the next thing I know Im working for Torega, selling cocaine. Im making some of the biggest deals, exchanging cash amounts of figures you can only dream of. Then one night it all went sour. You see Torega is looking to make a deal with a very important, and rich, client. When I get there I make the deal, we party, and all is well. That is until I woke up. I awake to a bunch of people I dont know asleep in the suit, nothing Im not used to, but one thing is odd, Toregas client, and all of his men are gone. This would not be such a big deal if a man, later that day, hadnt appeared at my door looking to make he deal I had just made with Toregas client. In short the man I spoke with, laughed with, and drank with was an imposter and he had just made off with five hundred thousand dollars worth of coke. When I get back to Chicago Torega listens and calmly walks to his desk and gets out a pistol, he then takes out a piece of paper and writes something down. He hands the piece of paper to me and I calmly walk out go home and collapse on the floor. When I wake up and read the list again I realize it was not a dream Torega had handed me a list of five people to kill, each representing one hundred thousand that I owed him. The list included to people very close to me, one was Ricky, the other was my father. Three of the people were nothing, just chumps who needed taking care of. The other two were personal, Torega wanted to injure me as I had injured him. So I immediately went to work. The conditions were unsaid because they went without saying, either these people will be dead or I will. The first two were easy, I knew them and what kind of things they had done so I had no problem doing it, but I couldnt look either Ricky or my father in the face when I shot them. I just killed Ricky, and thats why Im here. I dont know what to do. Do you think God will forgive me father? asked Thomas. God can forgive anything said father Bryan. Can you forgive me father? asked Thomas starting to weep again. Of course I can said Father Bryan with reassurance in his voice. Now my son for your penance- Dont give me a penance father exclaimed Thomas. Why not? questioned father Bryan. Dont you understand? Ive killed four of the five. I have to commit the sin again. I have to kill another man. explained Thomas. Who? father Bryan asked. You whispered Thomas. Two flashes light up the confessional, and as Thomas Trotsky walks out and heads towards the door he leaves behind him a crimson river flowing out of father Bryans side.
